The process involved with handling criminal charges is often long and challenging. The exact amount of time it takes to handle a case can depend on a variety of factors, including the charges involved, whether a person pleads guilty or not guilty, the evidence and arguments, and much more. In the event that an individual is facing charges for assault or similar violent crimes, preparing for the challenges ahead is often a smart step.

One young man in Massachusetts will likely be working on his defense preparations after recently being taken into custody. The following information was provided on how the situation unfolded:

  • Authorities received a noise complaint at approximately 2 a.m.
  • A 19-year-old man was apparently at the business where the noise purportedly occurred.
  • When an officer approached the young man, he allegedly struck the officer with his vehicle.
  • It was unclear exactly what led to the noise complaint or why the young man was approached.

Though the driver left the scene, other members of law enforcement located his vehicle and apprehended him. He is currently facing multiple charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, speeding, and failure to stop for police. At the time of the report, he was still in custody without bail.

The charges brought against this young man could come with steep consequences in the event of a conviction. As a result, it will likely be in his interest to thoroughly review his available criminal defense options in hopes of finding the best course for defending against the assault allegations and other charges. Though it may be a difficult process, chances for a favorable outcome exist.
