Having a fun time can sometimes land individuals in trouble, especially if younger people are following the example of those older than them. Sometimes, a situation that may seem like harmless fun could actually break the law or cause trouble for individuals not involved. Unfortunately, a lapse in judgment could lead to criminal charges.

It was recently reported that multiple young people, including three juveniles, were taken into custody in Massachusetts after an incident involving several scooters, dirt bikes and ATVs. Apparently, authorities received reports that approximately 15 to 20 individuals on these vehicles were trespassing, speeding and performing unsafe driving maneuvers. After their arrival, officers attempted to stop the individuals, but many purportedly ignored police commands and fled, leaving some of the vehicles behind.

Of the individuals allegedly involved, authorities took five young adults into custody, whose ages ranged from 19 to 24 years old, and three juveniles, whose ages were not disclosed. The following results were reported:

  • Four of the five adults and the three juveniles are facing trespassing charges.
  • One 24-year-old individual is facing charges of trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
  • Authorities purportedly recovered multiple firearms, confiscated five dirt bikes and had two cars towed.

Though the individuals may have thought they were simply having some fun, the situation has obviously had different outcomes than expected. It is important that each person, and the parents of the juveniles, understands the allegations they face and how to address the criminal charges. It may be wise for parties facing such circumstances to enlist the help of experienced Massachusetts defense attorneys to better understand their legal options.
