Allegations of violent crimes often come with potentially steep penalties. When a situation results in multiple criminal charges against one person, that individual could face a number of possible consequences in the event of convictions for those charges. Fortunately, criminal cases go through various steps before a conviction is even considered, and during that time, accused parties have the right to present a defense to the allegations.

One man in Massachusetts will likely be giving close attention to his criminal defense options after recently being taken into custody. According to reports, the man allegedly got into a taxi and then began choking the taxi driver. The taxi driver gave an account of how the man attacked him from behind, hit him in the face and wielded a knife before robbing the driver and carjacking the taxi.

The man purportedly drove away in the taxi before fleeing on foot later. Authorities found the empty taxi, and after receiving reports of another carjacking, they caught up with the suspect. Now, the man is facing the following charges:

  • Armed assault to rob
  • Assault and battery
  • Armed robbery
  • Carjacking
  • Use of a motor vehicle without authority
  • Larceny of a motor vehicle

These criminal charges are nothing to take lightly, and understandably, the accused man may feel overwhelmed by the situation. Fortunately, he can take the time to look into his criminal defense options in hopes of finding the route that best suits his circumstances. Additionally, other individuals in Massachusetts facing accusation of criminal activity may find it useful to enlist the help of experienced attorneys.
