These days, most people post to various social media platforms without giving much thought to what they post or the repercussions their posts could have. Unfortunately, even individuals who think their posts are private could end up in trouble if they post something that alludes to possible illegal activity. In fact, authorities often use social media as a way to track potential crime, and individuals could easily end up facing allegations.

It was recently reported that a social media post resulted in Massachusetts police conducting an investigation into possible drug-related activity. Purportedly, the post showed a photo of a firearm and what appeared to be marijuana inside a vehicle in a location that authorities recognized. As a result, officers went to the location and found the vehicle, which was occupied by an 18-year-old male and a 15-year-old individual.

Authorities searched the vehicle and purportedly found marijuana, a knife and a loaded handgun. As a result, the individuals are facing the following charges:

  • The juvenile was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license as well as possession of ammunition.
  • The older male was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and carrying an illegal knife.
  • The juvenile was held at a detention center due to being deemed dangerous, but the older male was released on a $500 bail, despite having other warrants out for his arrest.

Both of these individuals face different cases and allegations, and because one of the suspects is a juvenile, the parents of that individual will likely need to be involved. These allegations could prove complicated to address, but it is important to remember that both parties are they are found guilty by a court of law. As their cases proceed, they may find it useful to gain information on their available defense options.
