Being accused of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol can be stressful in any situation, as allegations alone may be enough to diminish one’s reputation. However, a conviction for such offenses could prove much more severe in nature, as this carries serious repercussions that may impact various areas of one’s life and career. A school bus driver in Massachusetts could be in search of guidance on her available options after a recent incident left her facing OUI charges.

Reports of erratic behavior

The incident reportedly began when authorities responded to complaints of erratic driving behavior by a school bus driver. Witnesses claimed the bus driver was struggling to maintain proper lane control and failed to adhere to traffic lights. During a subsequent traffic stop, authorities allegedly noticed that the driver exhibited multiple signs of impairment and they claim to have caught a strong scent of alcohol emanating from her.

According to reports, authorities proceeded to administer field sobriety tests and the woman was taken into custody after failing to perform these tests in a satisfactory manner. She is now facing OUI charges in relation to the incident and authorities say her driving privileges have already been suspended after she refused a breathalyzer test. They have also advised that there were several teenagers on the bus at the time of the incident and as such, she is also facing charges of child endangerment.

Seeking guidance as soon as possible

It might come as no surprise that facing OUI charges can be a stressful and harrowing process in any situation. Those who stand accused of such offenses and wish to seek insight into how best to handle the situation could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney as soon as possible. An attorney can examine the charges and evidence against a client, provide insight into all his or her available options, and assist in preparing a strategy with which to seek the most favorable outcome possible regarding his or her future during subsequent court proceedings.
