There may be a variety of reasons why youths might engage in unhealthy behaviors and most youths might not fully grasp how the decisions they make could affect their futures. When the actions of youths lead to legal concerns, parents might be left in search of advice on their options and the best path to take to safeguard their child’s future. A 14-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy are both facing vandalism and attempted theft charges following a recent incident in Massachusetts.

Reports of a recent incident

The incident reportedly occurred at around 1:20 a.m. on a recent Friday when authorities say they encountered a building with a broken glass door. Upon entering the building, they claim to have found two boys inside attempting to place items into backpacks. The two boys allegedly used two large rocks to break through the door and enter the store.

Authorities claim to have recovered nearly $1,000 worth of goods from the packs. Reports indicate that both youths were taken into custody and charged with breaking and entering and attempted theft. As a conviction for similar charges carries serious ramifications that could have a lingering effect on a youth’s life, parents who face similar issues might benefit from seeking advice on their options as soon as possible.

Seeking guidance

There might be few scenarios in life as stressful as learning that one’s child is facing vandalism and theft charges. Fortunately, this isn’t something parents have to handle on their own, as there are attorneys who can help provide much-needed insight on the best course of action with which to proceed. An attorney can work toward helping a client in Massachusetts understand all his or her legal rights and available options and assist in developing a strategy with which to seek the best outcome possible regarding his or her child’s future during subsequent legal proceedings.
